Minecraft: Hardcore Mode

I've been playing a bit of Minecraft lately, and I found that since the last time I had played, they'd added a new Hardcore mode to the game. It's different from the normal survival mode in that you can't change the difficulty at all and upon your death the entire world is deleted. Forever.

So, the masochist in me decided to start a Hardcore world and see how far I could get. The results...

I'm currently on my third go, and I've gotten much further this time. I've got a little farm going with some chickens and wheat to avoid travelling far for food. Have set up a little fortress outside my mine to shoot monsters from relative safety, and always travel with a map in tow. I'm currently dividing time between searching for diamonds and finding a village, so I can try out the new trading system.

On my last exploratory venture I found this right before I had to go to work.

Apparently, it's a Desert Temple, and although part of me wanted to explore it straight away the new careful part of my brain that has developed thanks to Hardcore mode made me stop and look it up. A good thing too, because there's a TNT trap in there that would have blown me up if I hadn't been careful. Although, that would have made for an excellent comic. 

Adventures in the Magical World of RL

For some reason I was feeling a little down today, but making that comic helped! It really did! I fully recommend drawing depressing comics as a cathartic way of getting rid of the blues.

Today was pretty full on, I must say. I had a ride in a government vehicle at some point, managed to get my immigration woes sorted out and had an EXAM (the order of these events might be a little mixed up). Speaking of exams, here is scan of one of the exam papers!

Yeah, I answered the religion question though, so don't worry. University is SERIOUS BUSINESS.
After the paper, since I was in the neighbourhood and had some time to kill, I decided to finally pick up a few copies of the Wansolwara, which is the universities paper.

I was entitled to a few copies because I did a cartoon for them. I have included it here. They raped it a little bit (thanks Ed.) and I would have included an original scan of it, but 1) the comic they used was drawn at a coffee shop on the day they needed it and 2) I don't have the original.

Also, although not included in the scan, they credited me as Elbert Rolls. I don't know whether to be upset or be happy that I know have yet another nom de plume.

I mean, I draw things with a little more class usually.

And then I had the aforementioned ride in the government vehicle. Which is a story I will probably save for my memoirs (Coming out in the summer of 2012! Reserve your copy NOW!) but I can say that it was good fun.

Getting a little Ahead of Myself again

OMG Sneak peek. And yes, I still use CS3.

Even though I've finished (basically, still some extra tweaks to do here and there) the first issue of Ambrose, I'm halfway through coloring the second one. Now, why put so much effort into something that might not even get printed, you ask? Sit down, go on, right there and I'll explain.

When I get an idea, be it for a story, a comic or a giant laser cannon, it is very rare for me to finish it satisfactorily. The difference with this is, I have the whole plot in my head for the first season (or volume, whichever), which has been simmering away for the past couple of years. Also, my art isn't completely disgusting right now, so I'm not worried about it looking bad.

Ambrose needs to be finished, properly, or I won't be able to consider myself a proper writer and artist. Heck, I've even got ideas for crossover comics and a main storyline that spans several dimensions and thousands of years. My favorite thing about this project though, and the part that excites me the most, is that it's sci fi.

Be prepared for some outlandish shit, ya dig?

Yes, that conversation really happened. I like to think that my mum and I bonded a little bit over the weekend. And yes, we do gang up on the sister sometimes. Hopefully no one notices that there is no comic for the 27th of March, this is mainly because nothing of note happened to me on Saturday. Seriously, it's like a blank day for me. If possible, could I have that day back? I think if I got a second chance at it I could seriously kick some arse.

Howdy Howdy Howdy

The internet has returned to my life. Oh, how i missed it :P

Yeah, so i've been working on a new comic. I have pretty high hopes for this one, and when it's done i'll post a page or two. The gist of it is basically acceptance of who you are, which may sound deep but really isn't. I have realised that i am a very sarcastic person, and so have embraced this for the comic. I'm particularly proud of the writing on this one :)

And yes, i know i said i was working on Magni and his Chickenheadedness, but the slack thing was that i was reusing a whole lot of my old characters. I didn't dig this at all, and kinda want to start something new and fresh. I reckon that might be the way to go. i mean, none of my old characters got published, so what the hell lets just make something new up.

i have been considering entering the service industry. i need a job...and yeah...that's one way to go. also! i have been werking on a new project. it is a secret project...kinda...i haven't really shown anyone what it is...i'm worried its going to flop :P

based on actual events! The Griff likes to bother me while i play snake on my phone. i mean honestly, how am i going to become the snake master, if i can't have time to concentrate.

highest score so far, by the way, is 2064. yes, one day i shall be the Snake Master.
