And feeling it too.

me: you sure?
Wilson: draw yourself wearing the cap
like - all fashion and all
me: mmmmnnnn
Wilson: since you're always wearing caps
me: I doan want to draw me :P
but okies

That's how this whole thing started :P

I was looking for an excuse to try to do something completely digital using the wacom, to get more practice in. And trust Wilson to come up with an idea like that. Granted, I probably took it in a different direction than he was expecting.

While not exactly the most masculine of colors, pink is pretty fun to work with.

Oh my god...I need to go and find something to rip apart with my bare hands. Preferably some sort of small furry animal.

ARGH, MAN NOT UNDERSTAND! MAN SMASH COMPUT...

A-2 Policebot

So, the gang (being Wilson, Mike and Lawrence) are working on a new sideproject.

It involves Robots! At some point we all sat down and had a chat about what kind of machine it would be, what it would look like and colors and such. We settled on a Policebot (in time, you will see why) and a couple of features that would be needed.

Lawrence suggested a flexible neck/spine and attachments that could be removed and changed around, so that while you have your basic mech for patrols and such, in case of riots or civil unrest it can be made to do crowd control.

Also, I love concepts with text on them, so of course I had to add my own :P

After I sent that to the guys, there was a request for a blueprint so the Mike could make the model.

And this is the rough model, which Mike says is an outline that has yet to be refined, but you can see the basic shape there.

There will be more updates and such when there is more news to divulge on this subject.

I got my totem right here.

Here's a piece of work I've done that's slightly work related. In that it relates to a system to help you organize your work, while at the same time, it has unicorns and mermaids. Also elves (elfs?).

Last week thursday there was a short at my house, which resulted in me not having any electricity for the weekend. It was awful. I couldn't watch television! Or check my email! From the comfort of my house!

It was like living in the dark ages (ha HA).

I did manage to catch up on a lot of sleep though. The slack thing is, that the power came back on on Sunday night, and I kind of freaked out and decided to stay up until two in the morning doing things. Which resulted in all that sleep I had accumulated being wasted.

Also, finally got to see Inception! I was amazed that the comic I drew about it was actually pretty relevant. I liked it, the film I mean, but then again I'm a sucker for sci fi. Mr. Nolan did an amazing job shooting that thing, and everyone is raving about it for a reason. I will admit that I was slightly proud that I didn't get lost along the way when it came to the plot.

Other cool things that happened over the weekend include the Handover event for Rotaract which I attended. I kinda had to, seeing as how they made me Secretary. I even got a shiny new badge. Also, Kania Na Yalo Bula made it to the papers! How badass is that?

Unfortunately, the Online article doesn't have the fan-tastic photo of Wilson in it.

Well, That's the Easy Part out of the Way

So, I've completed pencils, inks and colors on 1 (one) issue of a little comic I will call "Are you Ambrose?"

Yes, again, because it never got published the first time. No hint of bitterness in that sentence at all, although I was looking at my old pages recently and yeah, it's probably just as well :P

Like the title says, drawing and coloring this thing is the easy part, it's getting the work out there that will be difficult. But! I've mentally put myself down as proactive about this project (see, that helps!) and so after I post this I'll start working on some proposal letters.

Dear Sir,

I have an awesome comic that you should totes advertise in. The kids will love it, we'll be rich beyond our wildest dreams. Yes, even that one you had where you had a harem full of nubile young mountain maidens.

Yours,
Albert.

In further news, Wilson has finally put up the production diary for the shoot we had last week saturday. As much as I hate directing traffic away from here (seriously, stay a while, and listen) this is the LINK. Further required reading is Mr. Directors blog, which you can find (I'll even link to the post!) HERE.

CLICK IT OMG WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?

It's a Monkey (and other things)

Bobo contemplates what might be the most important moment of his life.

So I painted a monkey. Unfortunately, it's not a space monkey, and monkeys don't have opposable thumbs like that, but just look at that face! Look at it!

Fortunately, this post is not just about Monkeys and Thumbs, but for me to let you know that the Gang is working on a short film for the Kula Film thingy. For more information and such, here is a link to Wilsons blog, where he's done a write up on the thing so far, and what we're going to do.

I'm not really nervous or anything, just hope I do a good enough job for the project and for my friends.

Stay away from de Voodoo

My arm hurts. I received a call yesterday from Wilson first, and then from a kind of ex-employer of mine, who asked if i was busy. He had a job for me, and since i'm kind of not doing anything at the moment except for working on my sci fi/ romance novel, i decided to do the job.

Basically he wanted me to draw all over one of the walls of MHCC, for a special event the wine shop was having. I had no time to prepare, no time to aquaint myself with the materials, and i had to draw in chalk. Chalk.

As i said to him, there are many artists who can be given a blank canvas he's never worked on and tools he's never used and create a masterpiece. They should have got that guy =_=

anyway, it came out alright (there was this one lady though, who called it unimpressive. I wanted to stab out her philistine eyes with chalk) and i get paid on friday. A hundred bucks for 3 hours work isn't that shabby. Also, i have learned that i need more practice at drawing with chalk on walls. Perhaps i shouldn't have been such an obediant child.

Also, picture above is of Mr. Kongo. He is a shaman.

Awesomecake Easter Weekend

So i had myself a pretty awesome Easter weekend. Thanks to Jesus for dying and being rezzed all those years ago to bring us this pretty cool long weekend ^_^

First off, i went to church, where i saw a kid that looked like the Indian version of Alfred E. Neuman, the Mad magazine mascot. I knew people would not believe me, so i took a photograph.

and for comparison, heres a pic of Alfred himself.

The resemblance is uncanny. Then after church it was off to Nukulau to camp! I went with Wilson and his family, Lawrence, Apples, Arjay and John. It was serious good fun, and although my sister didn't let me take the camera for fear of dropping it into the ocean, John took a few shots with his camera phone. Which he got sea water on at some point.

This was our domicile. There were a few shacks like this spread out along the beach, and we commandeered one and put some tarp up to make a serviceable shelter against the elements. After having slept in it, i can confirm that one, the ground is hard, and two, that tarp does indeed protect you from elements.

Group shot of most of the gang. I spent a lot of time sharpening mah cane knife in case of like, crazy people attacks. So instead, we used it hack up some firewood. Arjay and John were pretty good at making fire, so i think that perhaps they wouldn't have been voted off the island straight away. Also, Wilson managed to injure himself. Twice. I personally got a huge bruise on my toe (i thought i may have broken it at first) but at least i only hurt myself once!

Then my sister, my mum and i went to the west. We stayed at the Fijian, and i ran into a couple of ex-employers of mine that i wasn't too ecstatic to meet. I also remembered why one of them particualrly gets on my nerves. He asked at one point if i thought they were going to make a sequel to Watchmen.

Dinner was Thai food, which was delicious! My mum always complains that i'm a picky eater, so it took both of them to convince me to eat the Thai food. I will admit, i was wrong to doubt them. The seafood was particularly delicious.

Thats us being particularly politically incorrect. Also, they had Point Blank at the games room.

Mum also managed to beat me twice at pool. I wasn't used to the table! It was such a soft table, that everytime i made a shot the cue ball would roll for aaages. I also managed to sink the black twice in a row, forfeitting both games.

On the ride back to Suva i listened to the news on the radio. Or what was allowed to broadcast. To be honest, it pissed me off. Unless you're living in another country or under a rock, you'll know that Fiji is going through another political crisis at the moment. As a result, the military has sent censors to all the news agencies to prevent the broadcast of news items that might cause instability. Or further instability, i guess.

Freedom of speech and the media is important, is all i have to say. Without it, you won't know whats really going on, and how can you make important decisions regarding yourselves or your loved ones if you can't get information?

Anyway, weekend was awesome, apart from that. That is all.

The Mango trees are all Blooming

at least, the one in my backyard is. i noticed this as i sat underneath the lemon tree this morning, contemplating fate and life like some pajama wearing Siddhartha. Mango tree blossoms are very pretty with their red stalks and yellow blossoms. also, that means soon the market will be flooded with mangoes! which means...chilled mango and icecream. you have not lived, my friend, until you have put mango slices in the freezer for thirty to forty five minutes and then slapped em on some vanilla ice cream. the perfect thing for those hot summer days :)

Diwali was good fun this year. During the morning i cleaned up the backyard ( surprising my grandmother and mum, i still don't know why i did it, some strange part of me saw all the leaves all over the grass and said, i need to clean) and then helped my sister make the puri for lunch. she will never be a teacher, my sister, for one thing she isn't very good at explaining things.

Sister: see, when they rise to the top you turn them over.

Me: why?

Sister: so they dont burn like those ones you didn't turn over!

Me: they've barely browned!

Sister: it's boiling oil! it'll brown in seconds!

Me: why didn't you tell me that in the first place?

Sister: /facepalm

still, it was a good bonding experience. i reckon.

then the gang met up so's we could go to peoples houses for diwali. Wilson (who provided wheels so we could go to Arjay's house) has provided an awesome post on things to do for diwali, which might be a little late for me to mention but it still makes for a good read nonetheless. first off, we went to Lawrence's mum's place, then we took a ride out to Arjay's place. by the end of the night i had a sore tummy from all the sweets and food. it was so worth it.

i also learned to keep Wilson and fireworks away from each other. that guy is a firehazard. i've never heard so many suggestions to do things that are on the fireworks box specifically telling you not to do them. like lay two sparkly fountains on their sides facing one another, just to see what happens. i would not trust that man with a sparkler.

good times :)

Kevin Sorbo appreciation day!

Yesterday Wilson, John, Lawrence, Apples and I went to everyones favorite "legit" DVD store to purchase a "Divder" (that's DVD, if i could, I'd pronounce it like). Poking about the DVD cases i found a western flick starring Kevin Sorbo. suddenly, all the memories came back, the expectation every Friday, for a new episode of The Legendary Adventures of Hercules. it was a family thing, at one point, to order pizza and watch the show. later, the show was replaced with Xena (which i found today, is actually a spin off of Hercules!) as the family pizza watchin' show, but the memories...ah the memories.

having the internet, i decided to see if i could find the opening for the show. behold! the opening for Hercules! the music actually brings a tear to my eye...excuse me...i need a sec...

i had actually forgotten that i was going to post about mr. sorbo this morning, until Wilson sent me this picture:
i remember you Kevin...i remember.

Its all a bit metaphysical innit

yah, so's i've been trying out some different approaches to drawing. mostly with color and how its applied, and the relationships between different hues.

so i've got the newest Death Cab for Cutie album. To me, it sounds basically like more of the same from them. That's not a bad thing, mind you, it's just nothing new. I really like the sound that they have anyway.

today i went to the University of the South Pacific. it was an adventure in which i attempted to find out if i could attend a class or two. i'm very late, i know. i also needed to go to that side of town anyways, as my uncle had asked me to pick up some tickets for his family for the secondary schools show that is going on tonight.

so i showed up, told em who i was, and got sent backstage. my only piece of information was that i had to see a man named Eiglesi, and that he would have the tickets for my uncle. standing in the wings, i saw a lady with a walkie talkie, who looked like she knew what she was doing, and therefore probably know this mysterious Eiglesi.

Albert: excuse me, i'm looking for Eiglesi, d'you know where he is?

Walkie Talkie Lady: yeah, he's on stage.

Albert: oh, will be coming off anytime soon? which one is he?

Walkie Talkie Lady: he's the conductor.

so i basically had to wait for the whole show to finish before i got to get the tickets. wasn't a chore or anything though, seeing as how the show was actually pretty entertaining.

after that, it was to town to have lunch with the John and the Lawrence, and then to apply for a job at village 6. yes. i applied for a job. in the service industry. if i get this job, the blog can only keep getting better.

finally, Wilson gave me acts one and two of Dr. Horribles sing-along blog. it's...amazingly funny, and also pretty deep. act 3 is out already apparently, and i must get my filthy mitts on it! i must!

Of Wolves and Kings

just an illustrated version of the plan the girlfriend and i decided on a few weeks back. you gotta be prepared!

so, Suva is having a music festival, which is quite awesome. i say this mainly because i got to sing a little bit in said festival. Friends Griff, Wilson and Lawrence sorta kinda let me sing a couple of songs with em at a gig at Esquires. It was lotsa fun ^_^. The band is called The Three Kings, (yes, like the movie) and yesh...it's awesome :P

it's kinda addictive, singing is. once you get over the nervousness, also, people have said that i don't sing half bad, so it's not too bad at all. all i did though, is belt out "I'm yours" by Jason Mraz (who is alright, i'm not a huuuge fan, but the ladies seem to love him. well, Ronron, Sharky and the sister do anyway =_=) and sing backup on a couple of songs. but! it's a start :)

i am a happy chappy :)

A Flamingo of Darkness

Some chibi's i drew of my mage and his mates. who are also my mates. cool aye?

i have been...feeling kinda...i dunno, like i've been hit repeatedly in the stomach. very emo, yes. but first! we must talk about the Dark Flamingos and the awesomeness that they are. On Friday, y'see, we went to a quiz. I was on a team and everything, also, i had the honor (or maybe the forceline'ness of naming our team the Dark Flamingos)

our team consisted of our very own Wilson, Sharky, Brother of Sharky, The Griff, and Moira, sister of The Griff. It was an awesome team. Don't just take my word for it, we won the damn quiz, so we must have been pretty awesome. Prizes were an awesome Alcatel 701 each ( i gots the orange one), a carton of coke and two bottles of wine. which i presume are expensive, lord knows the phones must have been.

i haveta thank the Ronron and Sharky especially, since they kinda forceline'd us into doing it anyway :P

so after that, we went out to celebrate! which of course involved copious amounts of alcohol, dancing (in moira's case, with a small woman who likes...other women) and much yelling of "Dark Flamingos!". people must have thought we were crazy...i doubt it though, since they were also probably drunk as well.

then i got some...kinda bad news. i'm trying my hardest to look on the bright side of life, like Brian tells ya to. it's tough, but i think i'll survive. The girlfriend makes me super happy and super sad sometimes.

the next day, i spent mostly at Ronron's bosses house, whom she is housesitting for. i doan know why someone asked her to sit on their house, but she's doin it nonetheless. the whole gang was there, some left, some stayed, and basically took over the house. it was lotsa fun, we played wii, cooked dinner and watched movies. made me feel happier, which is good, coz feeling happy is...good? i guess.

spent the night there, since it was pretty late, also Griff wasnt feeling too stellar, so i doan think he wanted to move around that much. Heres to hoping the rest of the long weekend is great, i think it just might be :)

new years resolutionses

you know what i hate...i hate having to think up these new resolution things. i mean, why do we do this to ourselves? every year we set really hard goals to accomplish that most of us will find really difficult to get around to.

honestly, 'tis a terrible thing.

but, i guess it's tradition, and although i may grumble i realise it's important to set goals for yourself.

so...here are a couple of those new years resolu-whatsits:

1) be nicer to the family, because honestly, they could kill me while i sleep.

2) stop flirting with strange women with stabbing tendencies

3) draw more

so yeah, those are the main ones. the other goals of getting fitter and learning to dance still apply though :P

also! if you have time, check out the totally awesome cake approved Paradise Not Found. their new banner was "drawed" by yours truly.

Of Wilson, WoW and Rants

hello there!

i've noticed something, it appears that the regularity of my blogging is directly linked to when my World of Warcraft account is down. i mean, its not that i don't want to write or anything...it's just theres alliance to be slain...and gold to be earned. (i wants my epic flying mount, wants it i say!)

anyhow, stuff's actually been happening, you know, in real life. shudder.

for example, last friday (why is it that most of the adventurous things happen when i'm drunk?) the gang went out...and traps was actually happening for once. i ended up hanging out with Betty and her friends for a while, which was alright, although i doubt that i was able to impress much. when albie is drunk he has two modes. dance and rant. honestly, now i that i look back at it, i'm pretty annoying to hang out with when i'm drunk, as wilson can attest to :P

it's also weird that i seem to be the only one who is able to piss wilson off. usually, he's a really friendly guy (except of course, when it comes to the alliance) like that time we to play pool, and he freaked out because i played a little trick with one of the balls. i mean, Arjay was playing with the balls too, and ol' Wil didn't seem to mind. in retrospect that paragraph can be read in a very suggestive way... so let me just affirm that there are "billiard balls" we're playing with here.

my irish accent also pissed him off once. i *think* it was that weekend where i stayed up with Griff all night drinking bourbon. once again, it slightly worries me that i can't pinpoint the excact weekend off the top of my head. my irish accent is also pretty strange, it seems to come out when i am inebriated...despite the fact that i'm only like, an eighth irish. also, it's a pretty bad accent. bad as in terrible, not bad as in good.

and then there are the rants. which are not very handy when trying to impress the fairer sex. for example, here is an exerpt from one of these rants:

albie: why would people just leave peanuts there unless they wanted people to be messed up, i mean, these are the most freaking spicy peanuts i've ever eaten, it's like some sort of bastard offspring of nut and lava. i'm just lucky all this lovely beer is here, to, y'know wash away the spiciness...(rant continues)

betty:...

lawrence: dude, what are you doing?

albie: talking about peanuts

lawrence: *smacks forehead*

i for one, think my rants are cute. anyone agree?

anyone...no?

so yeah, friday was fun ^_^
