A-2 Policebot

So, the gang (being Wilson, Mike and Lawrence) are working on a new sideproject.

It involves Robots! At some point we all sat down and had a chat about what kind of machine it would be, what it would look like and colors and such. We settled on a Policebot (in time, you will see why) and a couple of features that would be needed.

Lawrence suggested a flexible neck/spine and attachments that could be removed and changed around, so that while you have your basic mech for patrols and such, in case of riots or civil unrest it can be made to do crowd control.

Also, I love concepts with text on them, so of course I had to add my own :P

After I sent that to the guys, there was a request for a blueprint so the Mike could make the model.

And this is the rough model, which Mike says is an outline that has yet to be refined, but you can see the basic shape there.

There will be more updates and such when there is more news to divulge on this subject.

It happens only in the Daytime...

Hey, I made one! Yay!

Man, what a weekend! Long weekends are always hectic on the normal sleep patterns I guess. Had an awesome time at John's place on Friday night, the whole gang went over and we played Lawrence's Xbox 360 until the wee hours of the morning, watched Robocop (which was best enjoyed with friends) and basically kai colo'ed the projector that John had managed to fandangle for us. Big Vinaka Vakalevu John! (Even if it is a bit bera)

So yeah, I didn't do any decent drawing all weekend. Lack of sleep, alcohol and other things to do pretty much kept me away from the drawing table. I actually still have a bit of a mental block at the moment, I'm just glad that the Big Boss made a funny comment today because of my hair. Thanks boss!

And now, I shall return to my Kingdom of Rust. Tomorrow's another day, full of excitement, hope and wonderment. Oh, and hopefully some comics!

Awesomecake Easter Weekend

So i had myself a pretty awesome Easter weekend. Thanks to Jesus for dying and being rezzed all those years ago to bring us this pretty cool long weekend ^_^

First off, i went to church, where i saw a kid that looked like the Indian version of Alfred E. Neuman, the Mad magazine mascot. I knew people would not believe me, so i took a photograph.

and for comparison, heres a pic of Alfred himself.

The resemblance is uncanny. Then after church it was off to Nukulau to camp! I went with Wilson and his family, Lawrence, Apples, Arjay and John. It was serious good fun, and although my sister didn't let me take the camera for fear of dropping it into the ocean, John took a few shots with his camera phone. Which he got sea water on at some point.

This was our domicile. There were a few shacks like this spread out along the beach, and we commandeered one and put some tarp up to make a serviceable shelter against the elements. After having slept in it, i can confirm that one, the ground is hard, and two, that tarp does indeed protect you from elements.

Group shot of most of the gang. I spent a lot of time sharpening mah cane knife in case of like, crazy people attacks. So instead, we used it hack up some firewood. Arjay and John were pretty good at making fire, so i think that perhaps they wouldn't have been voted off the island straight away. Also, Wilson managed to injure himself. Twice. I personally got a huge bruise on my toe (i thought i may have broken it at first) but at least i only hurt myself once!

Then my sister, my mum and i went to the west. We stayed at the Fijian, and i ran into a couple of ex-employers of mine that i wasn't too ecstatic to meet. I also remembered why one of them particualrly gets on my nerves. He asked at one point if i thought they were going to make a sequel to Watchmen.

Dinner was Thai food, which was delicious! My mum always complains that i'm a picky eater, so it took both of them to convince me to eat the Thai food. I will admit, i was wrong to doubt them. The seafood was particularly delicious.

Thats us being particularly politically incorrect. Also, they had Point Blank at the games room.

Mum also managed to beat me twice at pool. I wasn't used to the table! It was such a soft table, that everytime i made a shot the cue ball would roll for aaages. I also managed to sink the black twice in a row, forfeitting both games.

On the ride back to Suva i listened to the news on the radio. Or what was allowed to broadcast. To be honest, it pissed me off. Unless you're living in another country or under a rock, you'll know that Fiji is going through another political crisis at the moment. As a result, the military has sent censors to all the news agencies to prevent the broadcast of news items that might cause instability. Or further instability, i guess.

Freedom of speech and the media is important, is all i have to say. Without it, you won't know whats really going on, and how can you make important decisions regarding yourselves or your loved ones if you can't get information?

Anyway, weekend was awesome, apart from that. That is all.

The Burning west...thing rained

so i'm in the west, on a whim and quite randomly. The Griff asked if i wanted to go to help out with some radio stuff, i wasn't feeling too happy at home so i decided, what the fluff, let's go.

so far, i've played soccer in the rain, had dinner with the nicest old people ever and mucked about out Lautoka. Which is small. And boring if you don't know anyone there.

There will be a longer post soon, just thought i'd update the blog.

Viva Lautoka :D

Also, Coldplay won some grammies Lawrence. Griff can't stop crowing about it. Taylor Swift is too cute and i need to get the Album Raising Sands. Mainly because it won like 4 grammies and i knew nothing about it.

Hey...hey Bill?

Watched The Thing at Johns house yesterday, and surprisingly it holds up really really well. The reason for this is mainly the story, since it's all about human nature, mistrust and above all, fear. Anyone of your friends could be...the thing!

The special effects are also still pretty good, because they used stop motion and prosthetics and things. So basically we're watching real props on-screen and nothing is faked.

An interesting note that Lawrence made was the similarities between The Things in The Thing and the necromorphs in Dead Space, how they split apart and form seperate organisms and all that. It was a pleasure watching the daddy of dead space, so to speak, strut its stuff :)

Dun dun dun duuuuun duuuuun

Lines by Lawrence of Zen and the Art of Zombies fame. He sure does like his batman. I colored it by the way, which is why i'm posting this :P

Party time! Excellent!

so, i had another farewell party. there was one a month or two back, when i decided to tell everyone i was going, and my aunt was all, "you have to come as soon as possible!" so all my friends freaked out and organised this huge party thing. it was quite spectacular, but obviously nothing for ms. organize-it ronna. It was huge i tell you, i didn't know half the gang there, but that was because it was kind of a combo party thing. She seems to like organizing those.

Yesterday was smaller than the last farewell party, but i kinda liked it better. just a whole bunch of close friends getting together to wish Lawrence a happeh birfadeh and say bye to me. we sang the songs, were hypnotised by Wilsons winamp visualiser thing, and stuffed ourselves with food and birthday cake. Cake is good :)

when the party was over, Arjay showed up with his company rental and dropped a whole bunch of us off at home. Now John lives out in the middle of nowhere. I mean, Lami. So of course, i had to go with Arjay all the way to Lami and back to keep him company. This is because its boring driving back by yourself, and i assume its harder to jack some foo's car when there are two people in it.

On the way back into Suva, we get stopped by the cops. It was just a random licence stop though, so we got through pretty quick and were soon cruising off to town. Now, what do two people who have just been stopped by the cops decide to do? We go to Traps of course.

So yeah, i've got a couple of days left in Fiji. I was sitting on the verandah this morning thinking about how long i've been here, and how i can't really picture myself anywhere else in the future. Heck, i was born here, despite the fact that i have a maroon instead of blue passport Fiji is in my blood. Who knows if this will change, or what the  heck will happen in the next few years, but right now, i really love this country. The people i've met, the things i've seen have all made me who i am. And i'm not that bad a person for it :P

And speaking of Ms. Organize-it Ronna, she's also helping the Griff with his ventures of getting the heck outta dodge, and asked me to do a sketch of the Griffster. I look forward to seeing what she does with it.

I likes making pretty designs

yes, yes i do. regarding the mum situation! she has asked me to do a whole bunch of graphic design work for her, which i think is awesome :D

mainly because it gives me something to do, and i hopefully get paid for it. nothing has been signed yet though. basically it's just a whole bunch of t-shirt and newspaper ad designs, nothing too tough. although later i might have to make some brochures and that.

monkeys are always fun. also! my artist friend and partner in crime Lawrence has started up a blog to catalogue the things in his mind. usually, he thinks about zombies, hence the Art of Zombies blog. check it out!

i'm glad i have work to do, and i think working for an NGO might be good for my KP (Karma points). i mean, helping out the community and that is supposed to be good right? like...duh.

very politically incorrect of me but fuck it, i like drawing ninjas. also, want. yeah, i think i could make a habit of drawing these design things, although now i'm worrying that i'm going to run out of ideas. feel free to give them to me! i will draw them and like...take all the credit.

i leave you with a piece of advice everyone should take to heart:

Just one of those days

you know, where you go from low to high to whoa. started out as being very, very crap. the mummy was in a kind of mood i guess, and i wasn't feeling up to a screaming match, so i just kinda took it. also, we were going to the doctors, and its not like i have the money to pay the bills. sometimes i think she just thinks of me as an obligation as opposed to...i dunno, sommat else, but i'm not in a very neutral place to discuss it all. i might be biased. yes, it happens.

so the trip to the doctors was heartening. my liver has improved by 1000 points apparently. the Liver Function test from two weeks ago gave me a score of 2000 on the "your liver is fucked" scale. this week it was down to 1000. so in two weeks i'm off to the doc's again, and maybe i'll have improved a whole bunch more.

also, i'm not as yellow as i once was, so my title as the Bonana King might be slipping. we shall see how this pans out.

spent the afternoon with Lawrence, Apples, John and Sharky. it was...nice. it was a lovely sunny day, with a clear blue sky and a full town. spent a ludicrous amount of time looking at board shorts for Lawrence and John, and in the end we didn't even end up going swimming! we ended up at the hibiscus grounds, wandering about and feasting on meatballs.

and then someone decided we should go on the sizzler. the sizzler is basically a merry go round in a merry go round. perhaps a photo is needed, and maybe i'll get my hands on one. until then, imagine a large contraption with seats that spin around a central axis, this axis is attached to another central axis, to which several other axises (or axii) are attached. yeah...needs a photo.

anyways, Lawrence and Apples get one seat, John and Sharky get another, and i'm put in one next to two little fijian kids, a boy and a girl.

me: this is my first time on this thing

little boy: eh? really? boy, it goes really fast! you're going to fly aaaall the way to the moon and back again!

me: that fast? wow...i dunno, maybe i should get on the ferris wheel.

little girl: you're from Australia?

me: no man! i'm from suva!

little girl: se!

me: io

unfortunately the guys that were organizing the ride took me away from the kids (which sounds bad as i write it) and shoved me into another seat, and one of the operator boys got in to balance the seat with me. he also asked me if i was from Australia.

oh yeah, and the sizzler...goes really fast. it's, like a horizontal ferris wheel on steroids. i had too much fun, and felt a little sick and weak in the knees after it was all done.

it was just one of those days. after the whole thing, today felt like one of those days where nothing can go wrong when you've got your friends, time to kill, and the sky above you. i don't think i had a care in the world this afternoon, and for my friends i'm eternally grateful.

also, purple pants are better at a distance, but that's a story for another day.

Of Wolves and Kings

just an illustrated version of the plan the girlfriend and i decided on a few weeks back. you gotta be prepared!

so, Suva is having a music festival, which is quite awesome. i say this mainly because i got to sing a little bit in said festival. Friends Griff, Wilson and Lawrence sorta kinda let me sing a couple of songs with em at a gig at Esquires. It was lotsa fun ^_^. The band is called The Three Kings, (yes, like the movie) and yesh...it's awesome :P

it's kinda addictive, singing is. once you get over the nervousness, also, people have said that i don't sing half bad, so it's not too bad at all. all i did though, is belt out "I'm yours" by Jason Mraz (who is alright, i'm not a huuuge fan, but the ladies seem to love him. well, Ronron, Sharky and the sister do anyway =_=) and sing backup on a couple of songs. but! it's a start :)

i am a happy chappy :)

Of Wilson, WoW and Rants

hello there!

i've noticed something, it appears that the regularity of my blogging is directly linked to when my World of Warcraft account is down. i mean, its not that i don't want to write or anything...it's just theres alliance to be slain...and gold to be earned. (i wants my epic flying mount, wants it i say!)

anyhow, stuff's actually been happening, you know, in real life. shudder.

for example, last friday (why is it that most of the adventurous things happen when i'm drunk?) the gang went out...and traps was actually happening for once. i ended up hanging out with Betty and her friends for a while, which was alright, although i doubt that i was able to impress much. when albie is drunk he has two modes. dance and rant. honestly, now i that i look back at it, i'm pretty annoying to hang out with when i'm drunk, as wilson can attest to :P

it's also weird that i seem to be the only one who is able to piss wilson off. usually, he's a really friendly guy (except of course, when it comes to the alliance) like that time we to play pool, and he freaked out because i played a little trick with one of the balls. i mean, Arjay was playing with the balls too, and ol' Wil didn't seem to mind. in retrospect that paragraph can be read in a very suggestive way... so let me just affirm that there are "billiard balls" we're playing with here.

my irish accent also pissed him off once. i *think* it was that weekend where i stayed up with Griff all night drinking bourbon. once again, it slightly worries me that i can't pinpoint the excact weekend off the top of my head. my irish accent is also pretty strange, it seems to come out when i am inebriated...despite the fact that i'm only like, an eighth irish. also, it's a pretty bad accent. bad as in terrible, not bad as in good.

and then there are the rants. which are not very handy when trying to impress the fairer sex. for example, here is an exerpt from one of these rants:

albie: why would people just leave peanuts there unless they wanted people to be messed up, i mean, these are the most freaking spicy peanuts i've ever eaten, it's like some sort of bastard offspring of nut and lava. i'm just lucky all this lovely beer is here, to, y'know wash away the spiciness...(rant continues)

betty:...

lawrence: dude, what are you doing?

albie: talking about peanuts

lawrence: *smacks forehead*

i for one, think my rants are cute. anyone agree?

anyone...no?

so yeah, friday was fun ^_^

Awesome Drunken Adventures!

So i wasn't going to go out this weekend. On saturday i asked Noodle if there was anything she wanted to talk about. we beat around the bush for hours talking about monkeys and we decided to talk some more in the evening. This decision was made mainly because i had work to do. On saturday. Yes, my life is glamorous.

But this wasn't to be, my mate Lawrence was feeling depressed, so we decided to hit the town in full force, all the boys. i also made a promise to mate Griff, after we decided to go out. you see usually, i find a way to leave the party train before it gets too late, so that i can get some sleep and recover, and so that the hangover the next day isn't so bad. But Griff made me promise that i'd keep up with him that night.

I should never had made that promise.

To put it simply, Griff is crazy. when it comes to drinking i have yet to meet someone with an Iron Liver like his. We drank, then we drank, and then we drank some more. Also, we watched some 24.

is it just me, or is Jack Bauer the most kickass Counter Terrorist ever? If he was in Counter Strike everyone would pick him.

so it's five in the morning, and we finish the drinks, we're at Griffs house, and i am too drunk to go home. So i say my good mornings and knock out in the spare room. Hello drunken sleep.

two hours later, there is a cat in my face, meowing so freakin' loudly.

this wakes me up with a start, for one, i'm still drunk, i'm confused because i'm in a strange bed, and this cat is getting in the way of me sleeping. so i do what any normal man would do. i punch the cat as hard as i can.

what's weird about the whole thing is that Griff doesn't even have a freaking cat.

and that was my awesome weekend, and now i have an awesome hangover.

i need a girlfriend...
