Interrupception

So, I didn't get to go and watch Inception yesterday, and now Mike is attempting to spoil the whole thing for me. The reason I didn't get to go involves the FEA, powerlines and candles.

Also, this is Awesome Cakes 400th post. Woohoo!

Far Away

Alright, I'll be honest. I haven't been on an awesome space adventure. Yet.

Although, if you want to start worshipping me as some sort of Space Messiah I'm totally cool with that. You freak.

So, how about this registration thing aye? Lots of chatter on the local blogosphere about what this actually means and such.

Does this mean no more Awesome Cake? We shall have to see now, won't we.

I really want to have a good rant at this, I really do. But, I think that I need to do more research before shooting my mouth off. Needless to say, first impressions of the whole thing are confusing, and the whole thing is very loosely worded.

Anyway, more information is required. It's detective work time!

It Burns!

So my sister managed to pour boiling water all over my drawing hand. The good news is that I can still click a mouse and hold a pencil. The bad news is that the bandage is so fricking huge that I can't get a proper grip on a pencil yet.

It all happened while I was washing the dishes too. This is the universes way of telling me that I shouldn't wash dishes. I've always felt I was a better dryer anyway.

This is my excuse for posting this lame picture of a crate with a logo slapped on it that I made.

Awesomely Employed

Not too sure if I've posted that before, but meh.

There hasn't been much time for me to blog lately, (I really should just make time) since I've started working 8 to 5. I catch the morning train and everything.

I also got the news today that the feminists have finally decided to make me their graphic designer. Which is awesome, but essentially means that at the moment I have two jobs. I should have been a juggler. Or a gigolo, but now we're digressing.

I don't know whether I've stated my opinion on the whole concept of feminism, I think that it's a wonderful idea. People should all have an equal opportunity to do things that they love, regardless of what they're packing in the pants department. I don't think that the genders will ever be completely equal though, but that's okay, because we're different.

What I mean by that, of course, is babies. Women have the power and equipment to create new human beings and men don't. Hence, we're always going to have to compensate for that. Perhaps compensate is the wrong word, but you know what I mean.

But when it comes to getting paid, or applying for insurance or whatever, it should always come down to skill and the amount of hard work put in.

I am also extremely grateful to whatever powers are out there (especially if it's some sort of flying spaghetti monster) that I've got work doing something that I love. Essentially I play photoshop all day. Okay, I play photoshop and internet all day.

Man, this post has gone to a weird place, I started talking about how I have lots of work to do and then I went onto feminism. Anyway, I'm going to do some drawing this weekend, so I should have some new art for the blog at some point (because otherwise you're all going to be sad. And I just don't know if I can handle that).

Torn

me: I'm torn
Mike: I thought, I saw a man brought to life
He was warm,
he came around and he was dignified
me: /monocle
Mike: He showed me what it was to cry
me: /sad face
Mike: Well, you couldn't be that man I adored
me: /hug self
Mike: You don't seem to know
me: /ponder
Mike: Seem to care
me: /shrug
Mike: what your heart is for
But I don't know him anymore
me: :D
Mike: set?
me: set ^_^

We cannot maintain this Radio Silence

Hey! Yeah, I'm still alive (no zombies have gotten me, yet) just been struck down by the Brontosaurus. I mean...bronchitis. Not the best way to spend your 21st birthday, but it could have been worse. At least now I have many many drugs to help take away the coughs. Hopefully I'll be running at full speed on Saturday, which is when the party is :)

Now I shall return to my warm, warm blankets. My drawing is suffering somewhat because of the drugs in my system, but I should have some new material up soonish.

Until then, marvel at my photoshop skills, wherein I put photos of me when I was young!

It's out! It's out! It's ooooooout!

I think it was because the movie was just that awesome. I can imagine the gang down at the FAVC, popping the DVD into the player and having their minds blown. They look at one another (the room is by now crowded with people, random passers-by and a trapeze artist) and decide, "Fuck it, I know the festival is in 3 days, but we have to share this with the world NOW!"

So, if you can't wait and have been salivating at the keyboard for days, here you go!

LINKS:
Here's the film over at the Youtube.

A link to Lawrence's blog.

And to the Facebook page (where you can find a nice HQ version if you're feeling like that...and become a fan)

And now, we wait for the festival. Rawr!

A link to good readin'

I've just finished reading the entirety of Evan Dahms Order of Tales.

I will admit that I was a bit misty eyed when it was all finished.

More CONCEPTS!

Greetings true believers! So, I've started doing the concepts for the fourth issue of Ambrose. Once again, I've gotten ahead of myself when it comes to this project, but then again, I have plans for all 12 of the first volumes issues. Seriously, they're all written out, with outlines for scenes and stuff.

Yeah man, I'm deadly serious about this shit.

The cool thing about writing this thing though, is that new things are popping out of my head all the time. There was a point on Friday, when I was walking through town, when I saw a guy who looked like the Fijian version of Albert Einstein. Which got me to thinking about, what his name would be and how I could work this character into Ambrose.

I even called up Wilson to get the translation of stone. Because, translated into English, Einstein basically means One Stone.
Another thing I like doing is drawing heads. Which some of you may have learned by now. Here are a few heads I did, I started out trying to get some new faces and stuff for the girls of Ambrose, but I ended up drawing Lydia and Lily a bit too much, I reckon.

And here are some sketches for the villain of Issue 4, the Nefarious Avinesh.

The EC Gloves must have taken a lot of work to get right, so I played around with the idea of various experimental versions that Dr. Strock went through before he created the Orb. One of them...was Avinesh. Who's crazy.
