Darn those Tyrant Lizards!

No T-Rex's were harmed in the production of this comic. He still hasn't given me back my bike though.

Well, wasn't today productive?

Repeated Remindings

Felt like doing some coloring today, as opposed to the tonal work I've been doing. Also, working on backgrounds!

Fashion Concious

Yes, that conversation really happened. I like to think that my mum and I bonded a little bit over the weekend. And yes, we do gang up on the sister sometimes. Hopefully no one notices that there is no comic for the 27th of March, this is mainly because nothing of note happened to me on Saturday. Seriously, it's like a blank day for me. If possible, could I have that day back? I think if I got a second chance at it I could seriously kick some arse.

AWESOME NEWS FLASH UPDATE THING:

The trailer for the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World movie is out. The comic is full of win. The movie looks like it will be full of win. Watch the trailer, you owe it to yourself. Also, if you have the chance you should totally read the comic.

Brain Overloaded

I've been having difficulty getting to sleep for the past few days. It's not that I'm not tired, it's just that I have these...ideas in my head. Lately, one idea in particular seems to be bugging me, so perhaps I'll try and work on making that idea a reality...you know, so I'll stop thinking about the thing.

Very vague...okay, I have an idea for a project to help kids develop art portfolios. I remember back in high school, Art was...not a taught or serious subject ( in forms 3 and 4 we had "Art and Crafts" in which I learned absoloutely nothing. Well, alright, I learned how to make an ornamental toilet roll holder, but I don't like flaunting this skill). This didn't used to bother me, until my sister started going to a new school ,where they do teach Art. Then it struck me, that there are kids in her class that might not even want the opportunity to learn Art, but take it because the freaking class is available to them (and perhaps, for easy grades).

I am pretty sure that out there are kids who have the potential to be great artists, who might even doodle regularly, or sketch things. But they probably wouldn't even consider applying for an art college after high school, because hey, Art's not a real subject they teach you in school. Granted, I know that if someone really wanted to, they'd find a way to get into an art school. But for every one of those, I'm sure there are at least a couple more who just didn't have the time or opportunity to develop a skill set. Who, if they knew how, could put together an impressive portfolio.

It just ticks me off a bit, when I think about kids who go on to become mediocre lawyers or accountants when they could be fucking fantastic designers, concept artists or illustrators.

I guess personally, I just want somehow to provide a chance to someone that I would have taken if it were available to me. I never really learned art, you know as a subject. I just kind of learned as I went along, and sometimes I don't even know if the stuff I do can even be classified as art.

This is turning into a TLDR post, isn't it? I guess I'll leave it there, and try and go to sleep.

Anyone have any thoughts on the subject though?

Dental Care

Just be grateful that I decided to draw boxers.

I think that might be my favorite Owl City song by the way. It's very poppy and happy. There's a really clever line in it that goes "Alcohol and golf don't mix, that's why I don't drink and drive."

While I have listed down a few of the awesome parts of being a freelance designer, there are a couple of disadvantages to it. I went around to the office today to pick up some monies, and I found it really hard to carry on a conversation with one of the peoples there. I don't think it had anything to do with like...the conversation, it was very good, but I just found myself really slow for some reason. I think it's because I spent most of the day at home talking to no one >_<

My England suffers.

Anyway, it's the weekend. Woot!

Dragons!

So...magical...

So, I had a couple of comics to put up today, but then I went to go and see How to Train Your Dragon with the gang. Man...that movie was...I'm trying to think of a better word than awesome. I really am. I will admit, that I am a sucker for dragons. If something has a decent dragon in it, then I will watch it and probably like it. I guess I've always had a fascination for them, magical, western, eastern or otherwise.

I'm not to spoil anything about the film, there are a couple of moments in it that just stay with you after you leave the cinema (and that weren't in the trailer! shock!) and overall it's...heartwarming, and funny and kick ass. Also, Toothless might just be the cutest dragon ever.

The score was brilliant, the voice actors were top notch (Yay for Scottish accents!) and the visuals were simply gorgeous and vibrant. Also, it was in Threeee Deeeee. There was on part in particular, where Hiccup is flying with Toothless around the island and the scenary is drenched in this golden yellow sunlight and Toothless swoops down towards some cliffs and I kid you not, I felt like I was falling. You know, that feeling you get in your stomache when you're suspended in mid air, or when you have that dream where you're flying/falling.

So...full of win :)

Super Awesome Beach Adventure

So I watched them swim while I masturbated on the shore. I bluff! Heh...heh...

So, there were plans to go to beach today, but work interfered and I was fully expecting to not go. I was going to sit at home and get some work out of the way so that I wouldn't have to rush everything tomorrow and friday. Most of it is due by Friday this week, with a whole bunch more due by Friday next week. However, I don't think I had steeled this idea in my head enough, because it was just too easy to convince me to go to Deuba.

The beach was good fun, I didn't swim because I had my work clothes on (Long sleeved paisley shirt, pinstripe trousers and checkered trilby. That's right, I defy clothes that match!) but I did kind of lounge all over the beach. And I claimed a stick as my own. Oh! And found lil' Penguini, which is the cutest rock ever. I shall save him for tomorrows post.

Edit: Full credit to Mr. Lawrence Cass for his hilarious jokes that were the inspiration for the Captain Human America Torch picture and the Raptor in the long Grass post. Without him, I wouldn't be half as funny :P

Needing is One Thing.

Cows are great, because they have horns. Sheep...they only have ears.

As you can see, USP has many of the latest technological advances. Like DVDs. Todays bonus panel is brought to you by the news that Chris Evans, who played the Human Torch in both (very mediocre) Fantastic Four movies, has signed on to play Captain America. Come on Marvel/Disney, it's not like there's a shortage of actors out there, did you really have to pick this guy?

This is a short post, because I had a long day. Hey! Don't look at me like that, you're lucky you're even getting a comic at all.

Honestly, you people...sometimes.

Edit: Just went through this post again and found no less that four mistakes. Note to self, do not attempt to blog at midnight after chugging a long neck of Fiji Gold.

Edit to Edit: Found a mistake in my edit...I'm going to bed.

Circles in the Parking Lot

Yes, I have big feet. And yes, that means I have big...socks.

Not an emo post! Granted, it's sad subject, and I was feeling a little down today, but now that I know that my feeling down was just my subconscious trying to remind to me to think about my Dad, I feel better. Thankyou subconscious, you did a good job today.

Cure for the Wooziness

When you're drunk, that song is awesome. Sober, not so much.

Yes, jumping up and down helped. Only downside was the aching calf muscles and feet the next day.

Crash the Party

Don't go into the long grass.

This Too Shall Pass

Lookit the colors change!

Super long comic today, which tells the tawdry tale of some of the mischief I got up to when I was a lad. I would write something, but I feel completely knackered after going out with Sharky and the gang last night. Got home at around 3ish after bouncing around town for hours. At around one I wasn't sure if I was going to make it through the night, I started to feel really sick >_<

Then I jumped up and down for around sixty seconds. And felt better.

It don't get much dumber than trying to forget a girl when you love her

Yes, I went to school with silhouettes.

Todays extra long blog post title comes to you via the awesome sounds of OK go. Which I really think should be spelled OK Go! With an exclamation mark.

Spent some of today with my mummy, who just got back from Amrika (America to you uneducated folks). She looked pretty tired, but I'm sure she had fun working. Wait...fun...work...never mind, I'm sure she had a great time.

I spent the rest of today mucking around town paying bills and hanging out with Sharky. I told her the saga of my rivalry with this girl I had back in High School. I was in like, Form 4 at the time and for some reason, she didn't like me very much. I think it might have something to do with what happened in the comic. But I was young, impressionable, and would do anything for five dollars.

So, not much has changed.

I totally forgot to put a bonus panel in todays comic. My bad guys, my bad.

Blown away.

The view from my driveway.

So, I've been stuck inside for the last couple of days due to ( surprise, surprise) Hurricane Tomas. Or is that Cyclone Tomas (Thank gawd its not Cylon Tomas, or we wouldn't even be able to tell unless it was too late) I always get the mixed up and I'm usually not bored enough to go and check out what the gosh darn difference is.

Most of my inside time has been spent looking outside at the wind whip through the trees and then alternating between reading webcomics and working on sideprojects. I have also managed to find many webcomics that are NSFW.

Here are some links if you have time to kill and would like to kill with some webcomic goodness.

White Ninja Comics: Classic stuff, found this one back when I worked in a radio station and they recently celebrated their 1000th strip.

Curvy: (NSFW!) Billed as a sexy sci-fi adventure comic for adults, this comic is full of um...boobs. And...yeah. The story is quite good in a weird way. It has people made out of liqorice.

Optipress: A slightly melancholy look at life from Norwegian Kristian Nygard. His name has one of those fancy things over the "a", but I don't know how to make that.

A Softer World: Photographs! Seemingly sentimental words with an ironic twist! (usually) Some of these are simply brilliant.

I shall now return to my lair, scuttling away from the whirling winds outside like a crustaceous like thing. Pincers snip snapping.

When the morning comes

Things always look better in the morning don't they? Anyway, I had a pretty good day yesterday. There was even cake! Fuck yeah! Didn't include the cake in the comic though...I did include the moment where I won a dollar though. Technically, I won two dollars, but you have to spend a dollar to win two dollars so all you really win is one dollar. I think they should change that...make it so that you win three dollars. Because it'd be more fun to say, "Hey, I won two dollars!"

Been watching a lot of Flight of the Conchords lately. I'd heard this song ages ago, my sisters friends refer to it all the time for some reason, but now that I know that the Conchords are freaking awesome, I will in turn, share this with you. The coolest part, for me, about the Conchords is that I remember watching Tongan Ninja and hoping that Jemaine Clement would go places.

Now, in the Flight of the Conchords, there's a character called Murray, played by Rhys Darby. He's the very inept manager of the band, who means well. I was looking up some of his stand up online and my god, is he funny. [Watch this]

What's weird is that bit reminds me of my nightclubbing efforts a few years back :P

Edit: My html skills are fail...so instead of embedding clips I puts the links!

And I've never been so Alive

I scanned this wrong, and cut off the words on the left side of the page. However, because of the magic of photoshop, I was able to type in the words, thus enabling you to read that thought. Huzzah!
